Could This One Thing Be Causing The Feelings of Anxiety You Feel?

It seems the overwhelming number of individuals suffering from feelings of anxiety is not going to diminish soon, neither is the outlook of healing from feelings of anxiety a train that has a smooth, pat answer and seems to be a train not stopped easily.... but it can, if we endeavor to look behind and see the real reasons we are feeling the feelings of anxiety that we are.

While we don’t attempt to discuss all the possible reasons for feeling anxiety in this article, more about my theories on Anxiety and naturalist, holistic approaches to it's resolution can be found in my online courses and books about it.  In this article, I would like to address one that is a unique place to start, and much less "chemical" in nature.

Since, in my office, we maintain a holistic approach to the whole body health, and how imbalances of all kinds can disrupt even the best potential for health, talking with our clients about how they feel about the other dimensions in their life is paramount.

We often get into discussing feelings and disappointments, traumas, and illness, all, surely, can be seeds for anxiety to take root.  However, we talk about "anxiety" as a "disease", something we have no say in,  rather than a resulting consequence and thus address it in ways completely in opposition to the actual ways feelings of anxiety can ease.

Commonly I hear among these individuals that report feelings of anxiety, is the sense that they missed the boat, that there is something they’ve wanted to do, some great purpose they’ve wanted to achieve but haven’t.  Many identify this at a time of their life when they feel it is “too late” or they are “too old” (all of which are “concepts”, by the way and deserve to be looked at in and of themselves).

I hear people say often, “I'm so sick and tired of….” to which I reply “Yes, you are”.  If they weren’t “sick” and tired, they wouldn’t be in my office. Here is what I seek to impart, however, if one is tired, it is often because they are tired of SOMETHING.  A job, a lifestyle, feelings, relationships..and the weight of which literally exhausts them from continuing to take part in it.  I know this, because you watch these people get engaged in something that excites them and they are not tired at all, but energetic, enthused, dare I say even, happy. They are tired of SOMETHING in their life….and it literally is making them sick.

I write often about feelings of anxiety because statistically, Anxiety is diagnosed in 1 out of every 3 Americans, and I have used my research and theories to comprise my book and online program, “UnBound:  Raw and Real Plans to Kick Anxiety From Your Bucket List”, to give a more thorough understanding of all the possible seeds of imbalance that can breed feelings of anxiety.

I have theorized in the past that one of the major causes of feelings of anxiety is the fact that one is living one way, but desiring to live another.  If you are tired of something, particularly if you feel “stuck”, I would imagine you might feel angst, or feeling like you always should be or wish to be doing something else. Might I suggest the awareness that you are feeling “anxiety” over your life and it has nothing to do with chemical distortion in the brain, and that perhaps the chemical distortion in the brain can be coming FROM the angst you feel?

If you are tired of something it means you’ve already met that challenge, you have already had that experience, and you are ready for something else.  At EVERY age, there seems to be an innate drive to achieve, accomplish, to grow. To deny this because of false and limiting beliefs of being “too old” or “too late” seems like an uphill battle that can only end in YOU being unhappy.  To see that life is as it always is, pushing one to grow and build UP, no matter what the limiting beliefs seems like it might not only relieve YOU, but also may provide something unique and valuable to the world.

I challenge you, if you are feeling anxiety in your life, I would suggest you first:

1. Look at the discrepancies between where you are and what you thought life would be like and see if there are ways you can reconcile it.

2.  See if there are things that can and should be changed.

3.  Ask yourself if it’s time to grow and move on to a new challenge, or a new growth opportunity.

4.  If you are feeling exhausted, worn out or tired, take a look at all parts of your life and ask what parts you are tired of, and more importantly, what you want it to be like instead.

The TRICK is to start making your life look as much like that image as possible. The CHALLENGE is to not let limiting concepts interfere. These limiting concepts are simple to find;  they are the reasons and excuses you give yourself for NOT doing these changes to make your life look like your expectation.

I don't discuss these common traits as a means to "diagnose, treat, or cure any condition", but merely to give some food for thought and put you back in the driver's seat, creating a bucket list and a life that is free and happy, contributing to the world and yourself.
